Volunteer Clearances: PA Keep Kids Safe Clearances Required for all Outreach Activities
The Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law requires clearance checks for all individuals who volunteer to work with children. Starting Fall 2015, volunteers are required to obtain clearances including the following:
For PA residents of 10 years or more:
These clearances are good for 60 months and are free for PA residents. There is a $27.50 fee for the FBI fingerprint check for new PA and non-PA residents. For more information see the Keep Kids Safe website: keepkidssafe.pa.gov.
To comply with this law, we require all SWE volunteers for our continuous contact outreach events to provide this clearance information as well as the disclosure statement at the link below prior to supporting outreach volunteer activities. In the event of partnering with another organization, SWE will default to the stricter volunteer rules.
