Meet the 2024 Philadelphia SWE Scholarship Winners!

We are proud to introduce a few of the amazing recipients of the 2024 SWE Philadelphia Scholarship! The section awarded 6 college scholarships for a total of $6000 this year.

These accomplished young women have gone above and beyond in their academics and in service to their communities. They embody what it means to be an engineer and SWE Philadelphia is proud to support them on their journeys!

a smiling woman in Paris with the following biography: My name is Munazzah Al Hashim, I’m from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I study Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (Honors) at Drexel University, with a concentration in Aerospace and double minors in Robotics and Automation, and Economics. I have previously worked as an Engineer with Globus Medical (Audobon, PA) and Cemafroid (Paris, France). I’m currently working as a Technical Program Manager at Tesla. I love music, traveling, roller coasters and adventure sports! My current favorite pastime is just exploring Austin with the friends I made here!
a smiling woman named Allison Elliott with the following bio “ Hi! My name is Allison and I am currently a senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying Mechanical Engineering with a focus in energy and fluid mechanics. Next year I will be finishing up my Master's at Penn before joining The Boeing Company full-time.
¡Some of my involvements at Penn include being the former Vice President of my sorority, acting as a peer advisor for underclassmen in the engineering school, working in our laser cutting laborority, TAing several mechanical engineering lab courses, and being a former member of our SWE board. Throughout my time in Penn SWE I have served as both our GEARS Day Co-Director and our Corporate Dinner Co- Director. In my free time I enjoy reading, volunteering at animal shelters, and trying new restaurants in Philly!”
a smiling woman named Lindsay Park with the following bio “ Lindsay is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania studying Systems Engineering (2025) and sub-matriculating into a master's in integrated product design (2026). She leads as President of Penn's Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), works with high-tech ventures through Penn Engineering's Entrepreneurship Fellows Program, and is currently developing policy-oriented solutions addressing STEM education inequity for young girls through her work with the Perry World House. In her free time, Lindsay enjoys camping in the great outdoors, knitting scarves for loved ones and passionately cheering for Philly sports teams alongside her family.”
a smiling woman named Caitlin Renner including the following bio “ Caitlin Renner is a sophomore mechanical engineering major at Messiah University. Caitlin grew up in Harleysville, PA with her older siblings and parents. After serving as the marketing chair for her SWE chapter, she is now the president and appreciates being able to plan events and foster community growth. Caitlin enjoys both the logical and creative aspects of engineering, which has led her to pursue a career in CAD modeling and design engineering.“
a smiling woman named Claire Rumsey with the following bio “ My name is Claire Rumsey, and I am currently a sophomore studying civil engineering at York College of Pennsylvania. Growing up in York County, I discovered my passion for engineering early on, drawn to its detail-oriented nature and the potential it holds for a fulfilling career. With a solid foundation in volunteering and a dedication to academic achievement, I actively seek ways to apply my skills and contribute positively to the field of civil engineering and my community. In my free time, I enjoy playing field hockey and softball, traveling to new countries and different US national parks, while also pursuing my interest in photography.”
